Latvia has a long tradition of traditional choral singing and dancing. Children’s Song and Dance Festival is the largest culture and art festival for children and youth and brings together thousands of singers and dancers from all regions of Latvia. The festival planned for 2020 couldn’t not take place due to the pandemic. It was postponed to 2021. But even then, the conditions did not allow thousands of little singers and dancers to come together. Therefore, television screens played an unprecedented role in the festival. Many open-air concerts took place across Latvia, keeping participants at a safe distance. And Latvian Television covered these concerts in an innovative way became the main symbolic STAGE of the festival, We showed live and recorded 15 concerts and events from September until November. In total, 30,358 participants were reached. The biggest concerts were adapted for the TV screen. During the final concert, 800 to 1000 children could join the live broadcast and appear on the screens, which was technically challenging.
